Mission of the School

Our Lady of Black Rock School’s philosophy of Catholic education is to provide the students with a caring atmosphere where they can build a wholesome self-image and reach their full potential spiritually, morally, academically and socially.  Discipline based on love, respect, and understanding is the School’s means to communicate values through all aspects of the curriculum.  Our Catholic school philosophy guides the relationship among students, faculty and parents and is interwoven into each person's undertakings and activities.

Our specific objectives are:

  1. To work closely with parents to develop a healthy value system;

  2. To promote good discipline by developing character and self-control, which is essential to the growth of each student;

  3. To develop the idea that Religion is a way of life and as such is to be interwoven into each person’s undertakings and activities;

  4. To encourage the parent(s) to become more involved in the school life of their child(ren);

  5. To provide an atmosphere of respect in which students and parents experience the commitment of the faculty who share a common Faith and value system;

  6. To deal honestly and understandingly with each student and parent, according to Catholic Christian values and with only one concern:  the good of the child(ren);

  7. To encourage the parent(s) (who are the child(ren)’s first teachers) to express their Faith more fully at home, so that their child(ren) will build a wholesome self-image as a person and a child of God.
